The consultation

Homeopathic treatment is a process and my aim is that patients should be as involved in that process as they wish to be. Together we will try to find the underlying cause of the symptoms which may be one of many things and could include events such as an illness, a physical trauma like an accident or an emotional trauma such as bereavement or divorce.

During the consultation I will try to form a picture of you as an individual as well as taking full details of your condition. This picture includes your temperament and moods, fears, medical history including any recurrent illnesses and allergies, food likes and dislikes etc. This detailed case taking is because each of the remedies has a symptom picture and the one that matches you the best is the one which will be prescribed.

How often do I need to come? This depends on the nature of your complaint and the length of time you have suffered from it. Usually you will have your first follow up a month after you have taken the remedy; you may need to attend monthly for a while but the length of time between appointments will increase as your health improves. I have a number of patients who see me once or twice a year for a 'top up' to maintain their good health. A rough rule of thumb which is often quoted is that treatment takes approximately one month for each year the person has been unwell.
